Andean Roads Motorhome Rentals

Andean Roads was started by Cristian Torlasco in 2003 and has evolved into a family business. After 20 years of traveling through the Latin American continent extensively, Cristian decided to start a business that would draw on Argentina’s extraordinary potential for motorhome touring, unknown to most outside of the country.

Our goal is to provide the best possible assistance, mixing a good understanding of the service expectations that an international visitor might have with our familiarity with the local uses and places to visit. The approach is based on a long time family tradition of camping and traveling. We have an understanding of and can relate to what visitors want to see and do while touring Argentina by motorhome.

In other words, Andean Roads is not just about renting a motorhome; it is about being a link between the visitor and the local culture and geography; thus optimizing his/her time in Argentina. Feel free to contact us with any questions. Thanks for visiting Andean Roads.

Andean Roads Motorhome Rentals Rental Terms

Please note: If you do not book in the local currency of the country where your rental takes place the payment due dates will change and your main vehicle rental charges will be payable in full upon confirmation of your booking.
This is to lock in the currency rate of the day you booked on and avoid further currency fluctuations. Some charges like taxes, compulsory fees, extra items may still be payable upon pick up of your vehicle in their local currency.

(Please note, If you book in the local currency of the country where your rental takes place the standard payment terms described under the heading Payment Terms will apply.)

Payment Method:
You can either pay by bank transfer, credit card or via PayPal (additional 3% fee applies). The balance will be due upon vehicle pick up on the day you start your rental in cash (Euros, USD, or Argentine pesos), unless another payment arrangement is agreed. We accept all major credit cards with a 4% surcharge.

Vehicle Pick up
Upon arrival to our depot, you will be required to present a valid credit card and driver's license. In order to be a qualified driver and renter, you need to be 25 years or older. A valid International Driving Permit is recommended, although not required.

You will be asked to sign a Rental Contract at the time of picking up the motorhome.

We will also go through the whole motorhome, explaining how each system works and testing them at the same time. The vehicle will have a full tank of fuel (diesel) and fresh water. Please allow plenty of time in your schedule to do this procedure. This is a good time to ask questions!

You will be provided two sets of keys for everything.

You will also have a full gas bottle when picking up the motorhome. This should be enough for cooking, using the water heater, and the space heater during your stay, unless you are planning an extended visit. You don't need to refill the container before returning the unit.

There is a shopping center very close to our base, which you can use to get food and other supplies for the trip.

Equipment
Your unit comes equiped with the following items, at no additional charge:

Driving Kit:
- Road atlas and campground guide including Argentina and Chile highways, city/town maps, distance charts, etc.
- Vehicle's owner manual
- Renter´s Booklet (full of useful information about driving in Argentina, the vehicle, what to do in case of an accident/emergency, etc.)

Kitchen Kit: Full set of dish, silverware and cooking utensils.

Bathroom Kit: Biodegradable toilet paper, chemical toilet refills, two sets of towels per occupant.

Bedding kit: Sheets, goose down (douvet) comforters, blankets, and pillows.

Camping Kit: Camping folding chairs (one per user), camping folding table, extension cord (220v), water hose, cooler, bucket, etc.

Vehicle Kit: Emergency road signals, basic tool set, fire extinguisher, second spare tire (upon request).

Driving the Motorhome
All of the vehicles' controls are easy to use. However, keep in mind that it will probably take you a while to become familiar with all of them. Take your time to adjust the driving seat, mirrors, check lights, radio, etc. All our units have manual transmission. They have a 100 to 120 km/hr cruising speed, depending on the unit. Driving in Latin America is a bit different than Europe, Canada, Australia or the U.S. (unless you come from southern Italy!!). Many drivers in Argentina tend to drive aggressively (this is especially true for males), which doesn't mean that you should drive like a possessed race pilot, just be aware of it and act defensively. We recommend driving only during daylight hours. Road signage in the whole country is generally good and reliable.

Always be aware of the oversized dimensions of a motorhome!! (If you drive one at home, you are probably used to this). Keep in mind the height of the vehicle when near trees, overhead cabling, parking structures, etc. When approaching a highway toll booth (abundant in Argentina), select the appropriate lane for higher vehicles, usually towards the right end (just follow the buses or trucks).

User will be responsible for any traffic violations taking place during the rental period. The vehicle use will be limited to the normal use of a motorhome. Transporting additional passengers or load is not allowed and will cancel the insurance protection. Only the people designated in the rental agreement will be permitted to drive the motorhome. Please see our Rental Contract for additional information.

Overnight stays: for safety issues, we encourage to take advantage of the many and inexpensive campgrounds available, especially in the tourist areas. However, other places can be used for overnight stay, under the right circumstances. For example, if you are on the road on your way to a destination and need a place, ask a gas station attendant if you can park for the night. If you are in a remote beautiful spot all by yourself, it is probably OK to spend the night there. In all cases, check the surroundings first and make sure you have a good feeling about the place and that you are not violating local regulations or private property.

Smoking tobacco or any other substance is not allowed inside the vehicle, under any circumstances. Driving while intoxicated with alcohol or drugs is not only extremely dangerous but illegal in Argentina.

Unfortunately, we can't allow pets in our units.

Police highway check points are common and safe in Argentina and Chile. They will ask you to see a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and current insurance. You will also have a notarized document in your name(in Spanish), allowing you to drive the vehicle. It is always a good idea to keep a copy of your passport and of the Rental Contract handy as well. You should have no problems as long as you can show them the above mentioned documents.

Driving Restriction
Anywhere that it is not an officially recognized road. We do allow driving on gravel roads, as opposed to our competition. There is no point in coming to visit Argentina by motorhome if you can’t drive on gravel roads since a big part of Patagonia is still gravel…

Vehicle return
Vehicle must be returned by the stipulated day and time to the Andean Roads headquarters, unless previously arranged differently.

Allow some extra time to go through all the paperwork. You will be asked to take part in a vehicle walk-through in order to check for any missing, damaged, or broken items.

Free Transfers
We include free pick up and drop off transfers with our rentals. This can be any place within the city of Buenos Aires (airport, hotel, apartment, etc.). People really enjoy this service and saves them a lot of hassle. It is free of charge with our rentals. Depending on the characteristics of the unit rented, itinerary, and customer’s location, we might show up at their location with the rental unit, although most of the time we shuttle them to our base north of the city, where we have an office and plenty of space to do the unit’s tour, and rental paperwork. There is a good supermarket nearby, where we take the customers if interested (most of the time they are). After that their adventure begins…

Cancellation Fees:
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
34 days or more prior to pick up: 25% of rental fee
33-11 days prior to pick up: 50% of rental fee
10-3 days prior to pick up: 100% of rental fee

No refunds for early returns of vehicles.

Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:

The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed).
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website.

We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking.
